Did anybody else like this movie?I liked it alot,it was so evocative with the dark colors and bad living rooms-well done.I even thought Gweneth did a good job and Ted was yummy. Do you think she created his philandering, did she drive him to it, in a way?I read that her daughters didn't like the flick because it made their mother look "too crazy".

Re: Sylvia Plath-the movie
Tue, September 6, 2005 - 5:15 AMi really didn't like the movie either.
i thought it seemed a bit rushed. its doesn't seem like alot of thought when into making the movie. the movie barely develops her personality at all.
her husband was an asshole too. -

Re: Sylvia Plath-the movie
Fri, September 9, 2005 - 12:39 PMI agree. I just saw this the other day (after waiting a long time for it to come out and then apparently missing it entirely). Her poetry is almost completely absent from the movie, except for some weak montages, which misses the opportunity for a good gut punch for the viewer. They also leave out her youth, only mentioning it in passing, which I think is the most interesting part of her life, and certain set the stage for everything else.
But it's probably the only Sylvia Plath movie we'll get, so I can't knock it too much. I did feel Gwyneth successfully carried off an entirely unromantic and un-self-indulgent somberness very well.

Re: Sylvia Plath-the movie
Fri, October 28, 2005 - 7:35 PMI adored the movie..it really did justice to her own maddness. However, I thought that it focused too much on her sexlife and less on the amazing genius that she was. More Plath...less nude Gwyneth. I think the movie as a movie was great, but I personally think dear Sylvia would have wept to see what unholy Hollywood has turned her into.

Sun, August 26, 2007 - 1:35 AM@Aaron: from what i heard her poetry was left out of the movie because of legal reasons. i not sure of the specifics though.
